Property Overview: The cottage sleeps upto 8 people and is suitable for all ages. The cottage is situated between Killala and Ballycastle in a place known locally as Kilcummin. Its attractions being the scenery, beaches, mountains, cliffs and historical sites. Ideal for fishing and surfing. Full Description: It is an ideal setting for people of any age to chill out and relax. For others it’s and ideal base to explore all that North Mayo has to offer. There are sea views to the front of the house, with views of Sligo and Enniscrone across the bay. The cottage is five minutes walk from a traditional Irish Pub which overlooks the bay with a small pier and a row of old fisherman’s cottages some of which have been refurbished. The pub is an ideal place to sit on a summers evening watching the boats come in and looking across the bay to Sligo and Enniscrone. There is also another pub a mile away which has a more modern concept with a pool table etc. Lacken is just around the headland with fantastic beaches. Every year around May they have Lacken Strand Races which first began about 1953. After a long absence it has been revived and is now a great family day out. With a unique layout, the race is now one of the leading horse and pony events in the country. Killala is the nearest town about 15 minutes drive away with plenty of places to eat and enjoy the Irish music coming from the many pubs. There is also a large pier with fishing boats, some of which are available for fishing trips. Ballina is a large town about ½ - ¾ of an hour away. It is full of places to eat, large shops, supermarkets and traditional Irish pubs many with Irish music. There is also a famous salmon river (The Moy) which runs through the town. Every year around July they have the salmon festival which lasts for a week, with the whole town closed off they have bands, dancers etc. On heritage day the streets are filled with stalls showing how things were done many years ago. The week closes with a fabulous firework display. The cottage comprises of: Large living room with open fire and sea views to the front of the house, free view TV channels and DVD player.
